Announcing the Inaugural Southern Songwriter Festival will be held in Summerville, South Carolina, September 21-23, 2023. The event will take place across 9 venues located in the downtown area, featuring over 40 local and regional artists.

The event is being held in partnership with Summerville Dream and their legendary Sweet Tea Festival!

The Sweet Tea Festival is a celebration of the birthplace of sweet tea, right here in Summerville SC. Our Historic Downtown is transformed into a massive open house / street fair with different food trucks, artisanal vendors and entertainment. Of course, there is plenty of sweet tea and you can help select the Tea of the Year by sampling and voting for your favorite! 

Happy birthday, Hanahan!  The city’s 50th birthday celebration culminates on Saturday, September 23rd, at the Hanahan amphitheater.

This one’s gonna be epic!  Charleston’s own Lauren Hall, a three-time Charleston City Paper “Best Female Vocalist,” will headline the event. She’ll be joined by opening acts Grayson Little and Kat Velasco.

Aside from this amazing musical lineup, you’ll also enjoy food and beverages from some of the best food trucks around and merchandise from local vendors. Kids’ activities include face painting, balloon art, jump castles, lawn games, and a petting zoo. We’ll end the night with a memorable fireworks display.

Rather, our concern is to assist these people and reinstate their dignity- and their feeling of self-worth.

At our September social we will mixing and mingling with Moncks Corner’s first responders. They will update us on what’s happening in Moncks Corner and provide some valuable safety information. Berkeley County is famous for its Revolutionary War connections, not only serving as the setting for 32 of the war’s over 200 battle sites in South Carolina, but also two prominent military leaders: General Francis Marion and General William Moultrie. Notorious for his “Swamp Fox” nickname, Marion and his militia were known for hiding in area swamps and launching bloody, surprise attacks on the British Redcoats.

Join us as we explore the Patriots victories and defeats on Berkeley County battlefields.

The Lowcountry Foodtruck Festival presents Carnival Eats Foodtruck Festival on September 30ᵗʰ from 12 PM to 6 PM and October 1ˢᵗ from 12 PM to 4 PM. Enjoy creative carnival style food from local lowcountry food trucks. There will be a fun zone for kids of all ages to enjoy. They were also the musical talent from local artists and DJs. And our beer garden sponsored by Ace of Spades mobile bar. This will be an event you don’t wanna miss

We’re setting up for a sun-soaked afternoon along the Wando River.

On the green: Enjoy live music by Blue Plantation, as well as a shrimp boil, barbecue and sweet treats from Swig & Swine. The Waterfront will also have a raffle table open with prizes from local vendors. Raffle ticket sales will also benefit Charleston Waterkeeeper.

Kids Corner: Little ones can enjoy face painting by Peachy Palette, an art station with Wee Little Arts, and live demos by the South Carolina Aquarium.

On the water: Coastal Expeditions will be offering boat cruises along the Wando River, where attendees can see dolphins, pelicans, shorebirds and more. Boat cruise sign ups will be offered at the Coastal Expeditions table during the event and are first come, first served. The first cruise departs at 1:15 pm and will last about 30 minutes.

Tickets are required to enjoy the food & beverage and activities at the event. All proceeds from the $10 entry fee will be donated back to Charleston Waterkeeper, a Charleston-based nonprofit that works to protect and restore the waterways for you and future generations.

Please be sure to reserve tickets in advance. There is a price increase to $15 for day of tickets and a limited number of tickets available the day of the event. Tickets will go on sale August 18th.

The Hope Summit 2023 Festival is a family-friendly zero-waste celebration of community service, citizen science, and local solutions co-hosted at the Daniel Island Waterfront Park by the Carolina Ocean Alliance and the Daniel Island Neighborhood Association.

The Festival will feature dozens of local organizations, sustainable vendors, and solutions providers. Explore the Family Zone curated by the Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network, an immersive and sensory educational experience for children and their parents with animal ambassadors, a virtual reality dive on the Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary, and a place to discover the scents and textures of native herbs and flowers with native plant species advocates.

The first 50 families to attend the festival will receive a free Yeti Load Out bucket from Beach Santa for litter clean-ups, oyster shell recycling, or other citizen science projects that can be customized with stickers and badges from the dozens of organizations in attendance.

Attendees traveling from Downtown Charleston are encouraged to enjoy a sponsored trip on the Daniel Island Ferry with all round-trip fares provided by the Coastal Conservation League.

The Cooper River Forum is working with partners Keep Berkeley Beautiful, Francis Marion National Forest, and Cordesville and Huger residents to host a corridor-wide litter pick-up on October 14, 2023 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Let’s sweep the Cooper River Corridor!

Meet at the intersection of Highways 41 and 402 at 9:00 to pick up your assigned section (10-20 people will be cleaning up each section). Gloves, bags, vests, and tools will be provided to you. All you need to do is show up.

The first 100 litter sweep registrants will be invited to lunch after the pick-up at Silk Hope Plantation. More details to follow. Sign up for the sweep soon so you won’t miss out.

Participants will dive into the Native American culture that existed before the arrival of Europeans and briefly discuss the effects of colonial expansion. Using our surroundings, we will discuss how Native Americans used the ecosystem for all their needs, including medicinal plant usage and community structure. Participants will learn the story of the corn husk doll and will make one to take home.

This is a FREE event hosted by Hell Hole, Inc and open to the public for all ages.

Join us as we take a walk around the swamp in search of our feathered fall migrants! All skill levels are welcome! We will cover approximately 1 mile over well-graded gravel paths and boardwalk, with some minimal inclines and uneven surfaces. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. A limited number of binoculars will be available.
