Event Details
Imagine not being able to shower or otherwise clean yourself for days, or even weeks, at a time. Imagine not having the means to obtain a healthy, nutritious, hot meal, and being lucky to find a few scraps of bread per day. Imagine not even having a shirt on your back to protect you from the hot summer sun or the frosty winter nights. Unfortunately, for many people, these are not situations that need to be imagined; this is their reality- and for many, part of that reality is being too humiliated to ask for help in these positions.
However, just because one may be embarrassed to ask for help in an underprivileged state does not mean that he or she is not worthy of receiving help. Jean’s Angels knows that people in underprivileged situations did not ask to be in these situations, and they are deserving of compassion and decency.
Our shower provides underprivileged individuals with warm clothes, a nutritious meal, and a refreshing shower to help get them back on their feet. There is no judging, finger-pointing, or assuming of anything about an individual’s character when that individual walks into our shower. These things are not our concern. Rather, our concern is to assist these people and reinstate their dignity- and their feeling of self-worth.

Berkeley County is famous for its Revolutionary War connections, not only serving as the setting for 32 of the war’s over 200 battle sites in South Carolina, but also two prominent military leaders: General Francis Marion and General William Moultrie. Notorious for his “Swamp Fox” nickname, Marion and his militia were known for hiding in area swamps and launching bloody, surprise attacks on the British Redcoats.
Join us as we explore the Patriots victories and defeats on Berkeley County battlefields.
